Angry at paypal.

i'm so angry for someone turning us in again i can't even say. Especially since our account was shut down and it wasn't even our account involved. Someone has it in for us. Please come forward and tell me WHY you did it.

if you had the courage to turn me in, have the courage to tell me.

This time we didn't even do anything wrong and the account is frozen. We will be closing our account completely. And the raffle page will be removed shortly.

We will not have a happy it's friday post today- we are just too upset.

I just learned that Paypal doesn't like raffles...

Junior and Orion's blog was telling about it.

We didn't know - that was the first thing we did several months ago.

I don't get it. What's the point?
I would like to know what "law" says this isn't okay to do in order to raise money for perfectly good reasons - CATZ!!

If people want to donate - it should be their business!!

I don't get it. Are they going to stop folks from auctioning stuff as well??

Wish someone in the catosphere could start our own "paypal" service. Fooey on dem!

I hope it wasn't someone who turned you in - that would be really cruel. perhaps it was just paypal itself and the fact that they will not support raffles anymore. Is there no other way to do the raffle thing? we have not done one since last year so we don't know.

That is terrible. Why would someone do that? I hope the person who did it has the guts to speak up and explain why. Sending purrs your way for a better day.

We dont think anyone turned you in. We believe it's Paypal. We sell on eBay and we've been keeping up with some of the changes Paypal is doing and it's awful what they are doing. But it's the main way eBay makes their money now. Once Paypal decided to shut down an acct it's nearly impossible to get it opened again. They are really really bad and hard to deal with.
I understand your anger, but just be mad at Paypal because they are the ones you should be mad at.

I don't get why Paypal (or anyone else) would care whether you are doing a raffle or not. Paypal already takes a cut of any moneys! I wonder if there is any alternative competition to Paypal that works the same way that you could use instead?

How horrible! I hope no one in the blog world is that low! We all seem like such caring people; I suspect that it was the PayPal police. I am sure there is an alternative out there so that we can continue to support fundraising for needy pets and their families; maybe if we put our heads together a way can be found. Remember, they still cannot take away all the good you have already been done! By the way, thanks for the heads up advice on hyperthyroidism--we will certainly keep watch.

Every now and then Paypal goes through a lot of purging and checking on things they don't like. I suspect that now that they know that cat bloggers do raffles of various sorts they are checking and are checking on links more often. They do have their terms of use and they set for whatever they want. You can try and argue with them. I have heard of people who have won with them because you have an employee who is over zealously interpreting the rules.

Doesn't google have something now that they fund stuff?

Hmmmmmm. That sounds weird. I can't believe they would care!

Oh, great, Paypal strikes again. We have heard such terrible things about them shutting down accounts on a whim and keeping any funds in it. It really scares us since it's credit cards or paypal.

We are so sorry this has happened to you. We wish there was something we could do to help. You have done a lot of good.

I am so sorry to hear about this. I hope someone hasn't turned you in and that's it's just PayPal being ridiculous. I use Paypal through Ebay and as soon as someone pays me, I immediately transfer it to my accounts and don't keep it in there. Let's hope we can find something else out there because you have been a great help to many out there, including my Sweet Praline.

So srry for your trouble with Paypal. We think they're just being silly!

That's horrible why would someone do such a thing?I don't know much about Paypal yet why would they care if you had a raffle???

That's pretty stupid, we don't know why they would have a problem with it. And we agree that it doesn't seem like someone from the CB would turn you in, no reason for it. We sure hope not anyway.

Hope your day/weekend gets a bit better.

Purrs and hugs,

I agree with Daisy... We should find out if there is anything else in competition with Pay Pal and use them.

Or just come up with our own system and fooey on PayPal perhaps?! And they just started their debit card program.

I keep wondering if I should change my buttons to something else for auctions instead of "donations."

Moneybookers keeps changing what they do and dont do. They used to be more like PayPal, but kind of a European verison.

I know they set themselves up to let people use them for paying bills now. Not sure if they are doing anything else though.

I also think it was Paypal that did it. I heard today from a reliable source that the Donate button is only for genuine charities to use and they do check up on its use.
I hope no one here would do something like that, especially when you have helped so many, including my sweet Charlie Taylor.
We are halting all the fund raising for the time being and figuring out what to do. I'm sure with all the smart kitties and woofies and buns we'll come up with something.
Love & Purrs,
ML & KC

pee ess: Jan's Funny Farm did some research into raffles and posted it here.
