Finally Friday.

Turn up your volume- i don't know if you can hear the purrs or not.

Finally this week is over. Here is your update about tesla.

That is her in her room. She has started sleeping in her ptu up on the shelf - i call it her high rise....
hahaha.

:)

When i go in in the morning and clean her litter- she doesn't try to escape, and she usually just stays in her high rise and purrs.

She's not destroying things like she did when she was young.
She is relaxing and playing with petey.
Hansel only goes in if trying to steal her food. But usually she's eaten it by then anyway.

To answer some questions in the comments yesterday, yes, people did tell me to put her down. They say cats peeing inappropriately is very hard to stop, and the only options are giving them up- or putting them down. Because once they start they don't stop. I've seen TONS of people put their cats down because they're urinating inappropriately.

However, OUR personal vet- would never recommend that. He himself has a cat that pees on carpet. SO- what did he do? Took up all the carpet. There isn't even an area rug because she'll pee on it. And, no problems when the rug is gone. he didn't get rid of her, and they're happy.

He told us it's going to be very hard, and she might never stop. But, he never once said, 'put her down.' He said once they start they usually don't stop. But, he never said 'get rid of her.' He started her on the meds and hopefully that'll work. If she has to be enclosed forever, as long as she's happy, that's all i care about.

And no, i would NEVER let her outside. EVER. Unless on harness. :) But like i said before, no, i've seen too many horror stories to do that again.

Maybe, like Grayson, we can set her up in the office where she can look out the window, and have a decent sized room all to herself. She does love it in there. Not sure. Right now, we're sticking to the laundry room and will let her out little by little next week. And see what we get.

But no, she's not going anywhere, and i'm really glad i have all of you behind me on this one, because it helps to talk about it.

Last year, the meds helped and she was off of them for a FULL year.

Maybe it's something in the change of season? We are reminded of poor Puff who hides under the bed in fall for a really long time.

We wonder if the same affect happens in spring time to tes?
We just looked back in our archives, and WOW! Tesla did the same thing on MAY 16th! ALMOST exactly a year!

That's a bit suspicious. Last year we blamed it on the kid- but maybe, maybe it's a season thing.

Hopefully, like last year, once the meds kick in she'll be alright.
i can't believe it was almost exactly one year.
that's actually kind of creepy. It was only off by a weekend. This coming saturday would be exactly one year, and she started this saturday past...

Do i lock her up next year for the month of may?

Any suggestions guys?

That is funny because I went back and looked too (since we didn't follow you back when it started I was curious)and thought it was kinda weird that it was in May again. You should ask your vet about it - maybe there are other cats that do this (or something similar seasonally) that could help figure it out. And I think it could help others if they know about it too. We are glad you have such a good vet who kind of understands it. I know the smell can attract them to pee someplace again (which is why I suggested washing the toys) and if you can take up the carpet it could help. You would still need to clean the subfloor really good (just in case it soaked in - we did that when we pulled up our carpets and put down the laminate) but it could help because I know it is really hard to get the smell out of the padding (because cats have great sense of smell). But if she is happy in her room, maybe that is a good option - I mean, she is happy which is going to help a lot. Hopefully she will be ok again for another year. I don't know if you would need to keep her separate next year but I would say if she is ok until then to keep an eye out - maybe you can figure out what triggers it. Who knows, maybe she just really hates May - this is when it would be so nice if cats could talk! No matter what you choose we know it will be a good option - if keeping her separate works for everyone (and it sounds like it really does even for her) that may be the way to go. I know that at Cat of Nine Tales they had to keep Mosley separate and they did let him out to visit sometimes - and he was ok with it and it worked for everyone - so it isn't unprecedented to do that and it can work out well. I would do it if it was necessary at our house too. No matter what happens I know that you will make a good choise and we all will be here to support you!!

Mom doesn't really know what kind of advice to give as she never had to go through that and we're sorry for you AND Tesla. We hope that maybe, like you said about Puff, it's just this time of year. We will purray for that little sweetie. And we tried furry hard to hear her purr, but we couldn't. :o(

Have a happy weekend!

Georgia would miss the box as she got older and then stopped trying to get in it. Because she would always go in the area close to the box, we taped down a bunch of puppy piddle pads and then changed them every few days and that helped. This is only good if she ends up with favorite spots. Our cat who did that was usually pretty good after a couple of weeks of "retraining" in a smaller room.

Hi... hope you could be more patient :) All my cats did poo and wee in the house. Especially Mahzuz! We have to lock them in cage and let them go during day time. Mahzuz has no favourite spot - he poo and we has he likes :S

All the best to the mum telsa :)

Best of luck with sweet Tesla; hope her meds work again...Glad your vet seems compassionate, but those "friends" who advised putting her down and who have done the same, well, I would think twice about their true natures=I think how we treat animals says so much about our character...Happy weekend sweet friends...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki

You might have something there with timing! The Cats here have Spring fever or something...there's been more than the usual (May Ling)peeing going on. There's also an intact Tom roaming around the neighborhood.
Is there an intruder cat Tesla might be seeing outside?

I'm glad she is with you! Seriously, my late brother would pee on anything soft and squishy, once we figured out what triggered it we kept those things away (like pillows, etc.). It took us a good while to figure it out. Something is making her think that is the place to go. We'll sure try to help you figure it out, but it really is a process of elimination. Start with things in her room and remove different ones at a time.

Just dropping by to check on Tesla. I don't have any recommendations, but I can send purrs to both Tesla and her mom.

We hope this is just a seasonal thing and the meds will help!

Some cats, you feed and scoop the poop and that's it. Some cats make it interesting. They're our kids so we do what they need us to do. Your a very good mom!

Interesting that Tela is reacting the same as this time last year. We thought maybe all of the house rennovation might have triggered some insecurity. Was there anything weird going on last year this time?

Maybe some kind of allergy to something that blooms or makes pollen in May where you are triggers
an allergic response which triggers a uti? I hope her medicine works again and/or that you can let her out supervised at times to socalize and/or get her moved to the room with the window.
