Thoughts on a thursday.

Last tuesday it rained VERY VERY hard here.

While dad was at work, he was in the parking lot on his way home and happened upon a small field mouse- a baby, on his back, being drowned in the rain. He felt so bad for the mousie, and scooped him up in a small cup.

On his way home he bought a critter habitat for him, set him up with shredded paper for bedding, the bottom of a pringle container for a water dish, a toilet paper roll for hiding, and for food- some apple, cheese, and bread.

He wasn't breathing right but mom and dad had strong hopes that the little mouse would do well and they would rescue him and he'd live a long full life.

Mom called a wildlife rescue number and left a message because they promised they'd call back in 12 hours.
(we STILL never got a call back)

Mom said if he was alive on wednesday she would go and buy real mouse food.
He munched on some apple, and some cheese, and on wednesday, mom was at petsmart buying mousie food.

Thursday morning they found that the poor little thing had let out his last breath and he was no more. We were very sad about this, and we wanted you all to see our friend.

Mom only took the one photo- to not bother him too much.

Rest in peace dear friend.

I'm sorry poor little Ferdinand did not make it. But at least he did not drown all alone in a rainstorm. I'm glad he got to spend his last days warm, comfy and with a full belly.

We are so sorry about your friend; it's always sad when you try to save someone and they don't make it...We hope your Mom and Dad are comforted by the fact that he passed away in a loving, warm and safe place instead of alone in the rain=they did a wonderful thing for him...kisses sweet friends...xo...Calle, Halle, Sukki

Your mom and dad were so wonderful first to even notice such a small creature in need and then to try so hard to give him a chance! It is the everyday, big hearted actions of your family that make us so proud to call you our friends! Goodbye, Ferdinand, glad that you knew kindness at the end. I think that even mice have a safe place to run free over the Bridge.

How we treat others "in need" speaks rhemes abowt the kind of person we are. So although poor little Ferdinand died ~ he will always know someone cared enuff to give him a chance, and shed a tear over his passing. And yoor mom and dad and yoo are clearly good gentle folk we are proud to know.

We came over to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY Hansel (as it's Wednesday) but think we are too early for the celebrashuns.

That's very sad about Ferdinand, it was nice of your dad to try and rescue him.

On a different note, did we see on the CB that today is your birthday, Hansel? If that's correct, then a very happy birthday to you!!

Purrs and hugs,
