Mancat Monday

The other day mom was taking some pictures of some baby stuff she got (will show you those later) and she heard a weird noise.  Couldn't find Hansel.  Realized she had left the door to the nursery room wide open- something she NEVER does.
And there he was. Curled up in a basket a friend gave her for the baby laundry.
Notice the special cork board behind the basket?  This is very special to mom.  It has photos of some of her very favorite patients from where she used to work.   There is a schnauzer- see him? That's Joshua. That's the one that made mom get one of her own.  The owner of Joshua (who has since passed) now owns Ben's sister.   There is a cocker, that's Clayton- mom still visits him- their is a dachshund- that was mom's very favorite dog, he's passed too.   There is a boston behind the basket- he is also special, the sheltie is Cassie- and there is a lovely letter attached to Cassie's photo from her family and how much mom helped during her passing.  The cat, is Tubby- who blocked almost every single month- and he was so sweet. He finally passed after a blood clot in his leg left him paralyzed and in pain. however, he purred the whole time.  There are more letters from owners telling mom how much her kind words and her being there during these procedures mean to them.  And she is having a hard time taking apart the board and putting it away.   Some people might find this kind of morbid- but mom finds comfort in looking into the eyes of the souls of the animals that meant so much to her.   She likes to keep them with her, so that to her they are still around. She cried for every single procedure, and made sure she got to say her goodbyes as well.  To her it is a shrine to friends since passed.

But hansel was not interested in the board. He was interested in the basket, and the paper IN the basket.

nom nom.

He loves baskets. And paper. And paper in baskets.

doesn't get better than that!

he stayed in there a bit longer. And mom let him enjoy.

OH! and happy july 4th everyone! watch out for the boomies!

Oh, what a neat board. Can see why it's hard for you to take it down.

Hansel is so cute in the basket. Looks like he's moved in. :)

Happy 4th to you all.

We think that cork board is a wonderful memorial to very special Fur Beings. :-)

And Hansel, what's better than a basket AND paper? You were so lucky to have that!
