Today tesla went to the vet for her annual check up, and her feline distemper vaccine.
After her small reaction last year i asked for the Heska version- which is nose drops. It's less likely to have any trouble. Dr j said we might have sneezing but that's it.
She weighed in at 10.4 lbs!
that's larger than hansel.
Not much, but a bit. He's long where she's short and round. :)
I told him she's been drinking a lot- but he said he's not too fired up about it,
and he said that her lump that mom had been feeling was just F-A-T!
Tesla was very angry at this comment and MAO MAO MAO'd at him.
The lady in the next room asked if tesla was a kitten because she was making so much noise.
She did very well for her appointment, took her vaccine, and mao mao mao'd again.
But she likes dr. j, and wasn't acting TOO anxious, just that she would rather be somewhere else. She walked right out of the carrier and onto the table with no problem.
So, Tesla checked out perfectly.
Dr. J did say he wants to see Hansel in a month, to check his heart.
And, he mentioned a cardiac ultrasound--- at $350!! But he
is going to call the specialist and see if she will do it for free at the clinic i'm working at now, in hopes that i can save a lot of money.
I just don't think i can manage that.
But maybe if she won't do it for free, we'll just have to find a way.
He said it's the only way to know exactly what we're looking at.
It'd be an echo- and would be nice to have if we can afford it.
He also said that long haired cats have heart problems more commonly, and tons of them never have a problem at all. But being it is MY cat, maybe we should try to get it checked out.

We are to tell you seven things about us.
OH boy.
Ok, lets start.
Seven Things About Tesla:
1 Mom got me ONE day after she got home from her honeymoon. I was sooooo cute, she couldn't wait to take me home.
2 After I came home, all i was but trouble. I was so bad, i had separation anxiety from my mom. She and i had a very special bond and she was raising me to be social and interactive. When she would leave, i would EAT the house. Like the carpet. But only when she would leave me for long times.
3 I yell REAL loud when i hear mom's voice in the back so everyone knows that's MY mom.
4 I only really let mom pet me. I will come and greet new people- but i don't want them to touch me. I don't mind when they share food. Just don't touch me.
5 I like playing with hansel a LITTLE bit. But i rather he doesn't touch me. Lets run around the house, but don't touch me.
6 Sometimes my dad picks me up and holds me close and says we're cuddling. i HATE this.
7 I have a red mouse named petey. He is my very favorite. Right now, he is under the washing machine.
Seven Things About HANSEL Cat:
1 I was picked out of the shelter on 10-10-08. Mom was just checking out the shelter to see if she liked it. She had planned on coming back later for a cat. They made her hold many many cats, but she didn't really like them. When they put ME in her arms, she was immediately in love, and i started purring and kneading her neck. She knew my name was Hansel right then too.
2 When i came home i was very smelly. But i LOVED cuddling, and they thought i was so cute, they didn't mind that i was a bit gassy and would clear a room very easily. This made me smile.
3 The first time they let me out and about by myself- the first thing i did was find the pile of toys, and roll and purr in them. I had never met toys before.
4 My favorite bean is my daddeh bean. I love mom too, but mommeh does NOT have a good tasting face. I like to lick daddeh's face early in the morning, and also sleep with him all night.
5 I do not have a big meow. I have more of a squeaky meow. Mom says this is not very manly. This is why she is not my favorite.
6 I LOVE playing jingly balls in the bathtub. I carry them in there and whap 'em all around. It's my favorite thing to do.
7 I like to play bed monster. If i know mom is changing the sheets, i have to be right there to be the monster. It's the best part of cleaning.
Seven Things About Ben:
1 i like to SCREAM when i meet new people. mom is trying to work on this, but i get so excited that i scream REAL loud, and shake all over. I can't contain my happiness to greet you!
2 Sometimes, when mom isn't looking, Hansel eats my food right out of my mouth or my bowl. If this happens, i gladly drop my kibble and treats for my starving brother and get a drink of water instead. mom says this is not very manly.
3 I love when mom sings to me. This makes me jump around and dance. I love when you sing. It's the quickest way to my heart.
4 I have colitis, so i cannot have fun treats like other dogs. Instead, mom gives me Ice Cubes because i LOVE them, cucumbers, and carrots. And the only treats i'm allowed to eat are Dugan's Barkery Treats because they are all natural and great tasting!
5 My favorite toy is my TICK. Or the moon. Or the bug. Or sloth. Or my giant red bone. Or a ball.
6 I love love love wrestling with Hansel. I find this fantastic! Especially on the bed!
7 I love love love going out for walkies. As long as they are fast. I don't like long walks. they make me tired. And i'm an inside dog! I have heat and exercise intolerance!
Well, first off we wanted to tell you to start watching our Halloween Contest Blog, where we already have 3 categories sponsored, and hoping for more.
Second, took hansel to the vet today, to get his annual distemper vaccine.
At our visit we found hansel has recovered extremely well from his surgery- his muscles are excellent, sooo good in fact, that they didn't need to do xrays on him to see how he was healing.
However,
dr. p DID find a heart murmur. The grade is only a I/VI, meaning very very very low and hard to hear, but it IS there. And it wasn't in february or march when we did the recheck. She said we have to monitor it. But other than that, there is really nothing that can be done.
She said he's very nervous and stressed being there so maybe that's why, but at the same time, he just was there in march and nothing. no problems. No heart murmur and she listened a lot.
I fear for the little guy. He's only 2 years old. He means so very much to us. She didn't tell me when we should bring him back, but i will ask dr. j when i see him next tuesday with Tesla.
Many cats live with heart murmurs and NEVER have a problem. But, i felt that i needed to share with all of you what we learned today.
