The results!
The ultrasound tech said his insides are absolutely 'beautiful' and there is nothing wrong with him.
She said they are the best she has ever seen in any schnauzer.
So i talked to the vet- because i'm so confused. And, once again, the dog was diagnosed as being merely insane. there is nothing wrong with him physically- he is mentally insane. He caused himself to have all these symptoms as if he were literally dying... and for what??? he's perfectly fine! (other than the colitis of course- but that's all being managed) but he looks great.
So thank you to everyone who has been thinking of him, and praying for him, as always, we truly do believe you had something to do with his being ok. And thank you to everyone who donated and help make this possible, we love everyone. We are so thankful we can't even express it. So we were told to just keep an eye on him and not think much else of it. He just has to be monitored because he's too dumb to know he can't drink a ton of water or he'll pee himself for hours. So i dont get it- the vets stumped, and no more testing is to be done at this point, because his spirit is back, he's not perfect- but he is eating again, and happy again. bringing us toys, it's just this new fascination with water.
So, the schnau will live to see many many more tomorrows.
crazy dog.
Big Day
He goes in at 1230 and as soon as we know more, we will let you all know right away.
He has been acting MUCH better- the meds have to make his insides feel a bit better. But,

Puppy Up Walk in ABQ
Even though we can't be with our dear heart family, the amazing White Dog Army , needs your support in walking with them in spirit, along their journey to defeat cancer in canines. They are walking today- and we thank them once again, for everything they are doing. We are with our army in spirit, as we wish we could walk along side them, (ok maybe not hansel and tesla as there are a LOT of woofies there) and Ben wants to dedicate our entry today to the amazing team of Eskies, and the two lucky poodles who get to join in the fun today (Daisy & Maple) and send all of them our very best. We are thinking of you! Good luck, and we hope that you have fun, and your cause makes tons of money and helps us get even closer to defeating cancer! We love you guys!!

Xrays.
My mother assisted me today as i took ben and the baybee to the vet today,
for ben's xrays. He was looked over very well by the vet,
and the xray was taken.
Turns out his liver is small- and the vet is suspecting a liver shunt.
He says it could be the reason why he's had colitis- that it was ALL caused by the shunt.
He says there are a bunch of other tests we should do, but first of all, we should do an ultrasound.
Our OTHER vet thinks its a urinary tract infection that's gone up into his kidneys.
And that antibiotics will fix it (which we start tonight).
We hope its the later.
If it IS a shunt- it may not be fixable, or if it is, you have to go to a specialist,
and that's easily over a thousand.
So, in hopes that you kind bloggers could help us out since money is tight-
the price of the ultrasound is 275.
If there is anyway you can help us out-
it would be appreciated so very very much.
So we will leave the donate button up on the side of our blog, if you can help,
that's wonderful, if not, just continue sending purrs and prayers- we appreciate that JUST as much as money,
we need your love and support, we are very worried about our ben.
Mom is terrified of what the ultrasound may reveal.
But it really is the best thing to do.
Both vets were telling us other tests and things that would be great,
Both vets were telling us other tests and things that would be great,
but for all of those, the very best test is an ultrasound.
Until then, we are just waiting and hoping the meds help.
poor ben.

The Scoop On Ben
Ben has been acting a bit strange when it comes to eating.
It kind of started when mommy was still pregnant.
He would sometimes just refuse dinner.
Sometimes, he would eat even if he didn't want to, and then throw up. That wasn't too often.
A lot of times he would just skip dinner.
The vets and mom put it down to stress from hormones of mom and the baby.
When baby came, it seemed to calm down.
But mom did notice other little things- but nothing seemed like it was wrong.
For instance, he would watch when anyone had a drink, lick his lips, like he wanted it badly. If you weren't watching, he would try to lick the condensation off your glass.
When he would eat his cubes, he would lick them first like trying to drink them, then chew them.
He has been licking his legs after having a cube to get every last drop OR when he was outside and it was damp, he would lick that off himself too.
This last week, he started refusing dinner in the evening again. A lot.
It's always bothered mom when he does this.
Friday she took him to her mom's to celebrate her birthday with her.
He got to run and frolic in a real yard.
He drank 2 full bowls of water that were overflowing.
And a ton of cubes. No big deal. he was running around outside a lot.
Urinating and everything was normal.
She left at 4, and he peed on the way to the car. Normal. he's good about
going before he gets in the car. Smart like that.
At 8 pm, dad gave him another cube.
He finished, got up slowly, dragged himself to the front door, and started to pee on the floor.
NOT normal.
Mom picked him up and took him outside where he went the rest of the way, and it was a LOT.
at 930-10 pm, dad took him out, and he ran like he had to go so badly again, (mind you since they left grams house, they only had ONE cube) and went a ton.
Normally, he goes out once at night, and again in the morning- usually at least 12 hours go by in the mean time.
Mom got up early- at 8, to take ben out. He had recently gone in his crate.
SOAKED the blanket, and was just laying in it.
She took him out, where he immediately went again.
Then at 1130- he had to go desperately again. Mind you, he still hasn't had anything but a cube since 8 the night before, and those water bowls at grams.
Mom was now very worried. He had to go out about 6 times saturday- when normally, he goes out three. Sunday, they took him out 4-5 times, and always had to go.
He also has refused all food since friday except one bowl of food. that's 1/2 cup.
he ate a mouthful this am - which he vomited in the car on the way home.
He had bloodwork taken- and urine at the vets. The urine came back with no glucose-
mom had thought it was def. diabetes.
Now she is very worried about his kidneys.
He is just lying around, and doesn't want to do anything.
No fever, mom took his temp.
And now she's worried about cancer or worse, but he's just getting worse and worse,
he won't even play with mom. He just wants to lay down or drink.
Mom is very worried.
WE will have our bloodwork results in the morning and will fill you in then.
Purrs for Ben.
So he is loading up into the car in a few minutes.
we ask you keep him in your thoughts.

Walk & Wag a Thon 2011!
This year, the event will be held on November 5th. And we are going to be walking again - as long as we are able to with baby in tow- but, even if we DONT physically get to walk (it's usually pretty cold in november and mom is afraid of having a baybee ice pop) we are still raising money for the shelter again.
What makes it so special this year- is that they are trying to build another building to add to their current shelters- so they have more room for more pets- which equals- yes you guessed it, less euthanisias in the shelter. So we are very excited to be a part of it this year. Our goal right now is 100- if we go above that we would be very excited, but we are trying to be realistic. Over the past 3 years- for just the walk, mom raised over 500! And Hansel raised 200 last year in his pin up competition.
We aren't asking for much. Even a dollar would be amazing. BUT if you can't donate- that's fine- cheer us on for the walk! We just want to have your support!!! We will not be upset if you don't donate, so please don't think that at all! we will keep you updated on our progress as we can!! Thanks so much for your support, and hope you can help us reach our goal!

Who We Are!
It all started back in 2007 when Tesla came to live with our beans. She was the first. Her problems include separation anxiety from mom, urinary crystals so she has a special diet, a weird inflammation problem which makes lumps appear under her skin, has redirected aggression, herpes in the eye (which seems to be controlled), allergies, grumpiness, and behavioral chewing (destroys things when mom leaves) & urination (meaning she pees where she shouldn't). However, she is adorable, is very attached to mom, loves to play, and is incredibly bright.
They got Hansel in 2008 to stop the separation anxiety with Tesla. Hansel had Legg Perthes and had MAJOR surgery in 2010 to have the femur head bones removed, has allergies in february where he randomly sneezes, has redirected aggression, a heart murmur, and the latest is he licks all the fur off his front legs. His endearments are endless. He loves everyone, plays with everyone, loves his sister, loves TOYS, grooms his bean father, cuddles on everyone, steals food, drools when he's happy, goes CRAZY for the smell of carrots (like nip to him), and sleeps in your arms.
Then Ben came along in 2008. It wasn't the best of meetings with the cats. However, he came into our home and we've dealt with him ever since. He's very bright and stupid at the same time. He thinks everyone is his friend- and will approach stray cats, dogs, wild animals, and thinks they all want to play with him. Mom literally has to drag him out of the way to stop him if they try to attack him. He doesn't understand that things can be mean. His problems include, Anal Gland issues (had those removed), colitis (ongoing issue but have special diet), allergies, reactions to vaccines, heat intolerance, anxiety (special meds), dry skin, will randomly break out in hives, car sickness if in it for over 40 minutes, neurological incontinence (meaning he will literally just poop and not seem to realize he's going- in his sleep, on your lap, etc), screaming at guests, and they're not sure but they think he might be crazy. However, he's very loving, adorable, happy, loves his toys, loves the dog park because of all the places to pee, loves going to the groomer & vets because they give him attention, is very very bright- if he knows you are going out, he will kennel himself, oh, and he helps raise money by doing the local wag and walk a thon for our humane society every fall.
